Introduction
This conference will advance understanding of rapidly changing immigration policies. What are the big picture policy issues, and how do these play out in practice and application “on the ground”? This conference will help frame policy matters for public administrators, and provide ideas and insights on how they might respond in their own communities.
Last September, over 200 public decision-makers, immigration experts and senior academic leaders gathered in Phoenix for this major regional conference to address the questions and implications brought about by immigration in the Southwest.
“Immigration and the Public Sector: Your World is Changing…How do you Respond?” was held September 26 – 28, 2007 in Phoenix, Arizona at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, I-17 and Peoria Avenue.
From policy debates at the local, state and national levels to how the public sector struggles to keep pace with these changes, immigration is having it's most significant and lasting impact in the Southwest United States.
