Spiro Maroulis

Spiro Maroulis is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Affairs at Arizona State University, where he teaches public policy analysis, computational social science, and data analytics, and also serves as the Director of the Masters in Public Administration and Public Policy programs. His research addresses the theoretical and methodological problems involved with understanding the relationship between individual and collective behavior, with a particular focus on innovation, social networks, and public policy. He received a B.S.E in Civil Engineering and Public Policy Studies from Duke University; a Masters degree in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School; and a PhD in Learning Sciences at Northwestern University, where he was part of the Center for Connected Learning and Computer-Based Modeling and the Northwestern Institute on Complex Systems. His professional experience prior to entering academia includes cofounding PracticeFields, a corporate education and consulting company that creates computer simulations and interactive board games of business problems.
